Aavistus - Development project
Exploring new futures
In May 2024, we launched the Aavistus development project, aimed at further developing the platform to better support foresight and participatory decision-making. In this project, we are enhancing Aavistus with new features utilizing generative AI to support the facilitator's work, from creating surveys to engaging users and analyzing responses. During the project, we will also implement two pilot projects, one focused on participatory democracy and the other on regional economic foresight.
Objectives
Platform development
The main goal of the project is to create a platform that supports foresight and participatory decision-making. The platform’s services are user-friendly and leverage generative AI, enabling the scaling of expert work and summarizing extensive discussions.
Participatory democracy
We are piloting a process to promote participatory democracy in collaboration with the City of Mikkeli. The goal is to enhance dialogue between residents, experts, and officials, improving the quality and inclusivity of decision-making.
Regional economic development
Aavistus will also be used to promote the vitality of regional economic life. In the second pilot project, various stakeholders and experts in the region will work together to create scenarios for potential futures, supporting strategic planning and preparedness.
Pilot projects
Participatory democracy pilot in Mikkeli
n this pilot, residents of Mikkeli, experts, and officials will engage in a dialogue aimed at achieving a deeper shared understanding and consensus on the issue at hand. The process will combine in-person and remote participation, and the results will be used to develop methods for involving residents in decision-making.
Regional economic vitality pilot
This pilot utilizes the Delphi method, where different stakeholders and experts in the region collaboratively create future scenarios. These scenarios can be used to develop contingency plans, supporting the region's vitality and strategic development.
